Ethics Probe Urged Into Broome Executive’s Uniform Stunt
Broome County Democrats are asking for an ethics investigation after Republican County Executive Debra Preston showed up at the recent campaign kickoff for Sheriff David Harder wearing a Sheriff Deputy’s uniform.
Sheriff Harder says Preston did not violate any law.
Harder said he was not aware of Preston's plans to wear a Deputy uniform prior to her appearance at his re-election announcement.
Democratic Committee Chairman, James Testani says the use of any county property at a partisan event is in violation of the county ethics code.
An official in Preston’s office said the County Executive has a sense of humor and thought it would be funny to wear the uniform.
Testani countered that law enforcement is no joke.
