Officials with the Endwell Fire District say they are taking steps to deal with issues brought up in a recent audit from the New York State Comptroller’s Office.

The report cited the district for dozens of payments that auditors say had not been approved in a timely manner by the board of trustees before the checks went out.

The audit also reported 31 questionable payments totaling $24,808.  $5,883 of that was for items the comptroller’s office felt were not appropriate for firefighting. Some of those items included incentive gifts for volunteers and clam bake tickets.
