Winter's just around the corner. The closing of the Cider Mill in Endicott is a clear sign that ice and snow will be featured in most weather forecasts for the next few months.

According to its website, The Cider Mill has been in its location on Nanticoke Avenue since 1926.

Cider Mill fans look forward to August 16 every year for the official opening of the business, although those in the know have learned they might be able to acquire doughnuts and some of the other treats a few days early.

The window of opportunity for those who enjoy the tradition is short. The Cider Mill operates for three-and-a-half months. The fun comes to a predictable end every December 1.

Some doughnut- and cider-lovers stocked up before the closing with plans to freeze the stuff in anticipation of indulging during the winter or spring months.

In the meantime, the countdown 'til next season continues. Only 257 days to go.
