Authorities say 41-year-old Danielle LeFay has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.

Investigators say the child, Vianna Alexia LeFay, was unresponsive and not breathing when medics were called to 1606 Tracy Street around 7 a.m. on January 8. CPR was performed but the girl died.

Detectives say they determined the mother had taken a mixture of prescription medications, non-prescription drugs and marijuana before she fell asleep on an air mattress with her daughter.

At some point during the night, while in an impaired state, LeFay allegedly rolled over onto the child and asphyxiated her.

A Broome County grand jury issued a two-count indictment after considering evidence gathered by Endicott police.

LeFay was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in New Jersey on March 15. She was arraigned in Broome County court Friday (April 1) and sent to jail on $50,000 bail.
