Authorities say 25-year-old Danielle Agosto was arrested Wednesday morning. She has been charged with first-degree assault in connection with an October 30 incident.

Investigators say Agosto "recklessly engaged in conduct" which created a grave risk of death to the toddler. Police say the child sustained a fractured skull.

Detectives did not identify the toddler or describe the alleged incident. They also did not specify where it occurred or whether Agosto is related to the child.

Police did not indicate whether the toddler remains hospitalized.

Agosto was arraigned in Endicott village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.

The arrest followed an investigation by Endicott police and Broome County Child Protective Services.
