A 22-year-old mother has been arrested after Endicott police discovered her son had been seriously injured.

Authorities say Marcella Dooley of Madison Avenue was arrested Wednesday.

Detectives say village police were called last Saturday to investigate the case of a 17-month-old boy who had a broken femur.

An examination revealed the child had several fractured ribs which were in various stages of healing.

Police say they believe the boy's mother inflicted the injuries.

Dooley was charged with second-degree assault, a felony. She was arraigned in Endicott village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
