WNBF News

On Thursday, July 18th Endicott Police arrested Michael J. Cooper of 319 Exchange Avenue, Endicott.  Cooper was arrested for one count of robbery in the first degree, a class B felony and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, a class A Misdemeanor.

Along with Cooper a 16-year-old Endicott male was arrested for one count of Criminal Possession in the 5th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.  At 9:09 PM Village Police responded to a report of a robbery in the Union Alley.  A 23 year-old male victim reported that Cooper and the other male forcibly stole a knife that was hanging from a sheath around the victim’s neck and then threatened the victim with that knife.  The victim reportedly attempted to run away from Cooper but was tackled and then punched several times in the head and face.  The victim was not injured.

An Endicott Police Bicycle Patrol located Cooper and the 16 year-old near the robbery scene and took the pair into custody without incident.  During a search of the 16 year-old, he was found to be in possession of the stolen knife.

Cooper was arraigned in the Village of Endicott Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.  The 16 year-old was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
