There will be no combining of the Endicott Police Department with the Broome County Sheriff's office.

The village board has voted three to one to terminate the talks into the possible consolidation of the offices that had been launched months ago, touted as a possible way to save the village money.

Over the course of the discussions, some members of the community, Endicott Police and others questioned a number of issues associated with a possible merger, including the actual savings, impact on county taxpayers, patrol coverage, response times and what a merge would mean to seniority and current union contract agreements.

Broome Sheriff David Harder had been a strong proponent of the consolidation but has always said the decision would be up to the village.
