The death of a man who jumped into the Susquehanna River has been ruled an accidental drowning.

Investigators say 20-year-old Brian Lanzo jumped into the water from a Harpursville railroad bridge Saturday.

Friends say Lanzo appeared to be in distress as he became caught in the river current.

Over 100 searchers combed the riverbank Saturday afternoon and evening, resuming the search Sunday morning.

Lanzo’s body was found on an island between Center Village and Ouaquaga shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, an autopsy was performed Monday morning at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. Detectives say their investigation has been completed.
