An Endicott man is maintaining his innocence in connection with a stabbing and attempted bank robbery.

29 year old Lonell Barnes pleaded not guilty to 17 charges as he was indicted in Broome County Court.

Barnes is accused of getting into a dispute with the owner and an employee of the Washington Deli on Washington Avenue, Endicott on November 17 as they tried to evict him from the store for allegedly harassing customers.

Barnes is said to have stabbed the deli owner in the arm and ran off on Washington Street before approaching a 32 year old woman and stabbing her.

According to the police reports, Barnes is accused of stealing money from the purse of a teller at Citizens Bank while he was brandishing the knife.

Barnes was apprehended in a restaurant on North Street and later implicated in a stabbing of a 19 year old on North Street the night before.

Barnes was indicted on counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, attempted robbery, attempted felony assault and burglary.  Several other misdemeanor charges were also filed.
