An Endicott man was charged with assault after a village police officer was injured following a reported domestic dispute.

Authorities say 20-year-old John Cheeseboro of Madison Avenue also faces charges of resisting arrest, harassment and disorderly conduct.

According to village police, officer Jennifer Quinn was sent to investigate a disturbance at a Madison Avenue residence Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say Cheeseboro was disorderly and Quinn tried to take him into custody.

Police say the officer was struck several times during a struggle with Cheeseboro. A man who saw the altercation helped subdue Cheeseboro until other officers arrived.

Cheeseboro was arraigned in Endicott village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
