Investigators say 53-year-old Mark Kelly of Endicott was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

According to state police, Kelly was arrested on Wednesday in connection with an incident that reportedly occurred the previous day.

Authorities say a fight occurred in a vehicle being driven by Kelly on Country Club Road. Kelly is said to have engaged in a physical dispute with a passenger. He is accused of slapping and punching the person in the face.

The passenger sustained facial bruising but did not seek medical assistance.

Kelly was arraigned in Chenango town court and released without bail being required.

An order of protection was issued against Kelly on behalf of the other person. His next court date in the Town of Union is pending.
