Prosecutors say 32-year-old Michael Merwin was named in a two-count indictment handed up Monday.

According to the district attorney's office, Merwin was indicted on a felony count of second-degree assault. He also faces a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.

A news release issued Tuesday indicated Merwin was arrested on November 5 by Endicott police following an investigation into the incident.

There was no information as to when or where the incident occurred and whether the child is related to Merwin. There also was no indication as to whether the baby was hospitalized as a result of the alleged assault.
