Endicott Couple Pleads Guilty in Young Son’s Overdose Death

An Endicott couple will be sentenced in May after pleading guilty in the overdose death of their five year old son.

40 year old Jennifer Burks and 45 year old Charles Burks pleaded guilty to felony manslaughter and assault for feeding their son oxycodone at ten times the maximum for the child’s size last May, causing his death.

Prosecutors are looking for 13 years in prison for the father and 9 years for the mother.

The couple also allegedly gave the child methadone in May of 2015 that caused permanent damage, which required constant care.

The pair was due to go on trial March 20^th for the death of Chace Burks.

After the child died, the couple fled the area and were located in North Carolina in August and sent back to Broome County.
