In the wake of two restaurant burglaries and an attempted break-in in Endicott over the past few days, Village Police are advising businesses to take precautions to protect property.

Owners are reminded when they close for the night, leave some lights on so officers making checks can see inside, all windows should be clear, all money removed from cash drawers and the drawers left open, doors and windows are locked and that surveillance cameras and alarm systems are operating.

Police say they had 26 second and 52 second response times from when they were dispatched, but there is still a several minute delay getting the call from the alarm company.

Early August 30, someone broke into Antonio’s Galleria and Café on Oak Hill Avenue, vandalized the business and stole cash.

On September 2, a short time apart, someone attempted, unsuccessfully, to break into Consol’s Family Kitchen on Oak Hill Avenue then successfully got into Nirchi’s on Pine Street through a window, stealing money.  Police say all three cases are under investigation.
