So this is how it ends.

The ice that had been in place at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena since September has been removed.

With the Binghamton Senators American Hockey League season now over, workers at the Arena spent much of Tuesday taking out the ice that had been in place for months.

Much of the ice was melted inside the building and the rest was taken left outside on the Susquehanna Street side of the Arena.

The task of removing the ice is one of the mundane jobs that must be done once the rink no longer is needed for hockey games.

Workers will spend the next couple of days preparing the Arena for an event that's scheduled for the weekend. Jen Lindblad Ministries will present an event on its women's conference tour on Saturday afternoon.
