Ellis Brothers Furniture at the Metro Center Mall in downtown Binghamton is open for business today despite the devastating fire that destroyed their Water Street location yesterday.  The two stores were separated by only a few feet but the quick response from  firefighters kept the fire from spreading to other buildings.

Ellis Brothers Metro Center Mall store opened on time today and is open during  regular business hours.  There was no damage to that branch of the store nor their inventory.  Ellis Brothers has been in business in Binghamton for over 100 years offering high quality, top of the line furniture, carpet and accessories.

This morning a steady stream of fellow business owners, customers and well-wishers were stopping into the store offering their concern over yesterday's fire that destroyed a Binghamton landmark.  At least one construction worker stopped- in offering to do whatever he could to help whenever they needed assistance.

Ellis Brothers co-owner Charles Ellis said the tremendous outpouring of concern and well-wishes for his family were overwhelming.  He says they plan to rebuild the Water Street location once structural analysis is complete.  He indicated they love downtown Binghamton and have no intention of being anywhere else. He also thanked Binghamton Firefighters and Police for their outstanding response in fighting the fire and keeping the public safe.
