Five people are being charged with drug and other counts following a search of a room at the Econo Lodge Motel in the Town of Dickinson.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials were checking on 38 year old Terrance Brown of Binghamton and found four others in his room along with drug paraphernalia and packaging material strewn around.

As the investigation continued, Deputies say they started to find narcotics the other people were concealing through the room and on their person.

Authorities say Brown became agitated and demanded to be sent to jail in an apparent effort to distract officers from looking behind a dresser where a loaded Smith & Wesson Shield .40 caliber handgun and a bag containing 19.3 grams of heroin was hidden.

Authorities say they confiscated the stolen handgun, the bag of heroin, another bundle of heroin, 22 grams of marijuana, over 30 hypodermic needles, over 1,000 wax packets used for packaging heroin, scales and other packaging material.

Brown is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal possession of more than a half ounce of a controlled substance and a parole violation.

27 year old Patrese Reed of Brooklyn is charged with felony possession with intent to sell, possession and possession of more than a half ounce.

24 year old Lauren Steckler of Binghamton is charged with misdemeanor possession and a parole violation.

23 year old Breeanna Ortiz of Afton is charged with misdemeanor possession.

25 year old Gabrielle Bohn Blodgett of Binghamton is charged with misdemeanor drug possession and possessing a hypodermic instrument.
