Eastern League Subway Series Begins Tonight At NYSEG Stadium
The Binghamton Mets have the best record in the Eastern League at 33-24. That's good enough for a two-game lead over the Portland Sea Dogs and the Trenton Thunder in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League.
Tonight the B-Mets and Thunder square off in the first game of a three-game series at NYSEG Stadium. Game time is 6:35 PM (airtime at 6:20 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). The two teams have played three times this season in Trenton with the Thunder winning two of those three outings. Trenton is the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
Erik Goeddell (4-2) is scheduled to start on the mound for Binghamton. He'll be opposed by Zach Nuding (2-6) for the Thunder. The B-Mets are 10-4 in their last 14 games.
The B-Mets are led in hitting by Josh Rodriguez at .309 and Cesar Puello with a .302 average. Puello also leads the club in home runs with eight. On the mound Binghamton has two of the league's best. Logan Verrett is 6-2 with an ERA at 3.86. Rafael Montero is 6-3 with a 2.72 ERA.
The Thunder is lead by Rob Segedin with a .338 batting average and Walter Ibarra at .324. Nik Turley is 5-3 to pace the pitching staff in victories and tonight's scheduled starter Zach Nuding sports a 3.28 ERA.
