Johnson City firefighters were called to extinguish a blaze on the South Side of the village.

The fire at 94 Endicott Avenue was reported around 5:40 a.m. Thursday.

Johnson City fire marshal Paul Hlebica said the blaze started on a porch on the rear side of the single-family house.

Hlebica said the fire was reported by a resident who smelled smoke and noticed a haze in the home's basement. He said although the fire was quickly extinguished, it did extend slightly into the house.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
