A Broome County man was arrested shortly after a crash on Bevier Street in the town of Kirkwood.

Authorities say 67-year-old Terrence Ellis of Binghamton was charged with DWI and refusal of a breath screening device. He also was charged with failure to maintain lane.

According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened shortly after ten o’clock Sunday night.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the driver had fled on foot. Ellis was taken into custody a short distance away.

Ellis was ordered to appear in Fenton town court at a future date.
