New York State Police now say a Cortland County man driving a car that crashed April 24, killing a 6 year old passenger was the father of the three girls in the vehicle.

29 year old Daniel Haynes the third of Virgil is facing a long list of charges, including vehicular homicide and drunk driving, and authorities say more charges are possible.

6 year old Alexia Haynes was killed, while her sisters, 10 year old Adrianna and 8 year old Asia, were taken to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

21 year old Devon Luoma of Dryden was treated at Cortland Regional Medical Center for minor injuries while 23 year old Joshua Gleason of Virgil was not hurt.

Investigators say Haynes was driving the five passengers from his home on West State Road to another home in the Town of Virgil shortly before 9 p.m., when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a utility pole.

Authorities say Haynes was traveling at a high rate of speed and none of the three girls was buckled in.

In all, Hayes is facing eight felony counts and was being held in the Cortland County Jail without bail.
