A Town of Union man was arrested following a car crash near his home.

Authorities say 24-year-old Michael Hopko of West Corners was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or greater.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, a car driven by Hopko struck a stop sign and several metal fence posts at the intersection of Glendale Drive and Jeanette Road. The crash occurred early Thursday morning.

Investigators say Hopko's blood alcohol content was measured at .21 percent.

Hopko also was charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely and driving left of pavement markings in a no passing zone.

Hopko was ordered to appear in Union town court at a future date.
