Driver Charged After Town Of Binghamton Crash

A Binghamton woman faces a felony DWI count after a one-car crash.

Authorities say a Jeep went off Park Avenue near Peckham Road in the town of Binghamton late Saturday night. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch.

Investigators say the driver, 37-year-old Shannon Bennedum of Park Avenue, was not hurt in the crash.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Bennedum was charged with felony driving while intoxicated because of a prior DWI conviction. She also was charged with moving from a lane unsafely and refusing a breath screening test.

Bennedum was issued appearance tickets for Binghamton town court.
