Driver Charged After Tioga County Car-Train Crash
Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Police have issued tickets to a man who had been driving a sport utility vehicle that was struck by a train in Tioga County.
Authorities say 51-year-old Saeeduz Khan of Sayre was cited for inadequate brakes and operating without vehicle insurance.
Investigators say the brakes on the SUV operated by Khan failed in a parking lot at 460 Broad Street in the village of Waverly. The vehicle crashed through a wooden fence and plunged down an embankment, winding up on railroad tracks.
A westbound Norfolk Southern Railway freight train slammed into the vehicle around 8:30 p.m. on November 5.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
