Bob Joseph/WNBF News [May 17, 2012][/caption]Binghamton University students will celebrate the end of classes Thursday with the traditional Pub Crawl, starting on Main Street on the West Side and concluding on State Street downtown.

Thousands of students are expected to visit city bars throughout the afternoon and evening.

City and university officials have encouraged students to exercise some responsibility as they make the trek with specially-marked Pub Crawl mugs.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program earlier this month, Binghamton University president Harvey Stenger said he observed some of last year's Pub Crawl and based on what he saw "it seemed pretty calm."

Stenger said Alumni Association representatives and some university staff will be downtown during the event to help provide some alternative activities and "make sure things go OK."

Sections of State Street and Court Street will be closed Thursday afternoon and evening to accomodate Pub Crawl celebrants.
