Don’s Automotive Settles for Used Airbag Sales

Don’s Automotive Mall in Binghamton is agreeing to a $12,500 civil penalty for selling salvaged air bags without safety inspections to auto repair shops and in.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office says used air bags can be sold only if the seller meets Department of Motor Vehicle and Department of Financial Services standards.

The problem is, those standards have not been drawn up yet, making it basically illegal to sell salvaged air bags in New York State.
