A national non-profit group dedicated to protecting police dogs is announcing the donation of more ballistic vests for law enforcement K9s in Broome County.

Vested Interest in K9s has presented protective vests for Johnson City Police K9 C.J. as well as police dogs in Binghamton and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.

Toward the end of last year, the group announced the donation of a vest locally thanks to the efforts of a group of friends who opted to make donations to the effort rather than exchange gifts. Now, local authorities say almost every K9 has been issued the stab and bullet resistant vests.

Vested Interest in k9s partnered with GROUPON for the ‘Occasions’ fund-raising campaign last year and was named one of the best campaigns in 2013.

$10 donations can be made at www.groupon.com/k9s.
