Crime Victims Assistance Center Director Rani Baudendistel wraps up Domestic Violence Awareness Month with an appearance on the November 1 edition of the weekly local public affairs program on WNBF, Southern Tier Close Up.

Baudendistel addresses recent publicity surrounding abuse reports involving high-profile sports figures.  She says she doesn't feel the competitive and sometimes violent nature plays a large factor into whether or not someone will abuse a partner or child.  Baudendistel points out the athletes are not randomly attacking people on the street or in the workforce, indicating that they are not "wired" for violence.

Some information is also offered for friends, family and coworkers on what they can do to help someone who may reach out as a result of an abusive relationship.

Anyone who would like to get help can contact the Crime Victims Assistance Center hotline at (607) 722-4256, business office at (607) 723-3200, on facebook or online at www.cvac.us.

Southern Tier Close Up is heard Saturday at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
