The Dicks's Sporting Goods Foundation has made a major contribution to the Union-Endicott Central School District's Athletic Department at Charles F. Johnson Jr. Elementary School.  In a release from Dick's Sporting Goods details of a morning press conference were released concerning the grant.

Dick's Sporting Goods, which originated in Binghamton and now is headquartered near Pittsburgh, Pa. is providing a Sports Matter grant of $25,000 to help fund youth athletic programs at Charles F. Johnson Jr. Elementary School in Endicott.  The school is located across the street from En Joie Golf Course home of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.

Sports Matter from Dick's" was created to fight the youth sports funding crisis around the country."  That word came from Lauren Hobart, Executive vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer of Dick's Sporting goods and President of the Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation.

Defending Dick's Open Champion Jeff Maggert was on hand for the presentation today and stayed to work with students on their golf skills during gym class.

Maggert is coming back next month to defend his title.  The 2016 Dick's Sporting Goods Open is set for the week of July 4th through 10th at En Joie.
