A former school building in Endicott is about to undergo a significant rehabilitation project.

Marchuska Development LLC of the town of Union acquired the old Henry B. Endicott property at 23 Jackson Avenue from Broome-Tioga BOCES last May.

The site was sold for $50,000 after voters authorized the transaction in November 2013.

Developer Justin Marchuska and property manager Jay Fanara say the 96,000 square foot facility could become home to dozens of businesses of various sizes.

Gorick Construction Company of Binghamton has started demolishing a large section of the old school building. The demolition work is occurring on the east side of the property off Kentucky Avenue.

The developers say this is the second phase of their rehabilitation effort at the site. This phase is to include new ceilings, lighting and carpeting.

The third and final stage of the planned improvements at the property call for the installation of a new facade, entrance and landscaping.

The upgrade work is expected to be completed late this year.

Some tenants already are using the former school site.
