More design details have been released for an economic and business development center to be built on the SUNY Broome Community College campus.

Construction of what's billed as a "one-stop facility" is expected to start in about two months.

The Broome County Industrial Development Agency plans to use a $4.3 million state grant for the Town of Dickinson project.

Agency officials say a 17,000-square-foot, two-story building will be constructed near the south entrance of the campus, just off Front Street.

The Industrial Development Agency and the Local Development Corporation are to be located in the facility. Several other business and lending organizations also will have space in the building.

The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce plans to move from its current site in the downtown MetroCenter into the new complex.

A state environmental review for the project is underway. The new building is expected to open in about nine months.

SUNY Broome is swapping land for the economic center in exchange for the former county public library building on Exchange Street in Binghamton. The college intends to use that site for a culinary and events planning center.
