Deputies Say Freetown Man Leads Them on a Footchase

A warrant search in Cortland County ends in drug charges after Deputies had to chase the suspect on foot.

Authorities say 23 year old Kyle Dayton of Freetown was wanted on a warrant for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials went to Dayton’s home on Maricle Road at 6:22 p.m. July 8 and Dayton fled on foot.  He was taken into custody after running through fields in an attempt to hide in a wooded area.

He is charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

He was sent to the Cortland County Jail on $500 bail.
