An Endicott woman sought on a warrant tried to avoid arrest by leaping from a second-floor window of a town of Union motel.

Authorities say 20-year-old Angel Brodie of Franklin Street was wanted on a charge of promoting prison contraband on a warrant issued by Dickinson town court.

Deputies with the Broome County Sheriff's Office warrant unit say Brodie would not unlock the door of a motel room rented in her name. The deputies saw the woman jump from a window and run off.

Investigators say Brodie was apprehended after running about 200 yards. She was found to be in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Brodie was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument. She also faces a count of obstructing governmental administration.

Deputies say an Endicott man who was wanted on a warrant issued by Johnson City village court was found in the motel room. They say 48-year-old Vincent Smith of Washington Avenue was charged with felony grand larceny.

Brodie and Smith were arraigned in Johnson City village court and sent to Broome County Jail.
