Next year, you won't be able to buy a new microwave, washing machine, digital recording device or a calculator at downtown Binghamton's only department store.  Boscov's is phasing out the sale of electronics and appliances at the beginning of the year.

Customers are due to be officially informed in a flyer by the end of November.

While the items will no longer be available for sale, the service department is due to remain open. Customers who had previously purchased electronic gadgets will still be able to have them repaired in-store.

Boscov's is also planning on adding a specialized home furnishing department.
