A Tioga County man has a 26-vote lead over his nearest challenger in the Democratic primary in New York's 23rd Congressional District.

The unofficial vote total late Tuesday night showed Max Della Pia of Owego with 7,022 votes and Tracy Mitrano with 6,996 votes.

The 23rd district includes part of Tioga County. It's now represented by Republican Tom Reed.

The winner of the Democratic primary won't be known until absentee ballots are counted.

Three other candidates - Linda Andrei, Ian Golden and Eddie Sundquist - ran in the primary.

In the 19th Congressional District - which includes a small portion of eastern Broome County - Antonio Delgado won the Democratic primary. Unofficial election night results showed Delgado had 7,690 votes. Second-place finisher Gareth Rhodes received 6,442 votes.

Delgado will face incumbent Republican John Faso in the November election.
