The jury will now be considering what happens to a man accused of shooting another man, point-blank, on Fayette Street in Binghamton last April, killing him.

Closing arguments were made March 20 in the murder trial of 21 year old Jabari Ashe, who is accused of killing 26 year old Tyquan Gumbs in what police had said was a gang-related incident.

Prosecutors had claimed that the slaying was orchestrated as part of activities by the Bloods and Cripts gangs.

Gumbs was gunned down April 28 while playing basketball with friends.

This week, the Broome County District Attorney’s Office and Binghamton Police announced a $5,000 reward for the arrest of witness Valentino Mondolfi who failed to show up for the trial to testify against Ashe. That reward has been doubled and now stands at $10,000.

If convicted, Ashe could be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
