Undersheriff Craig DuMond, from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, recently completed Center for Domestic Preparedness training. CDP is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency. It is the only federally-chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction training facility in the country.

More than 50 training courses are offered by the CDP ranging from incident management to response to a catastrophic natural disaster or terrorist act.

Some programs are conducted at the CDP's Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological Training Facility.  The COBRA is the nation's only facility in the nation that offeres civilian training in a real toxic environment, using real chemical agents.

DuMond's training was federally funded with no cost to state, local or emergency response agencies.
