A seven month long investigation in Delaware County has led to the arrest of a 44 year old Stamford man on drug and weapon possession charges.

Sheriff’s officials say Hector Padilla Junior was arrested following a search of his home which led to the seizure of 65 packets of heroin, a loaded handgun, a stun gun, prescription medication and cash.

Officials say the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division, including the Sheriff’s narcotics detection canine, Ozzie, in cooperation with the New York State Police, conducted the search December 11.

Padilla is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Authorities say Padilla is accused of possessing the heroin with the intent to sell and having one of several handguns that had been reported missing from the estate of a South Kortright resident who passed away earlier this year.

Padilla was sent to the Delaware County Jail on $30,000 bail.
