Delaware County Gets a Drug Task Force
Delaware County has formed a new drug task force. Sheriff’s officials say the drug problem in the county is continuing to accelerate at what they describe as a “dangerous rate.”
Heroin and prescription drugs top the list of substances popular and available in the county according to authorities.
The Sheriff’s Office says the drug epidemic in Delaware County has gone up 223% in the last couple years and could double again over the next year.
Officials are encouraging residents to provide tips to the Sheriff’s Department website at www.co.delaware.ny.us/departments/shrf/shrf.htm.
The department is also in the process of installing a telephone tip line at (888) 914-9111.
Officials say residents with smart phones can use a free Sheriff’s application where tips can be left. Search ‘Sheriff’s Mobile Patrol…Delaware County NY for more information.
The Sheriff’s Office says the impact of illegal drugs is not confined to law enforcement issues but filters into a financial burden for residents and translates into domestic incidents throughout the county.
