Bitterly cold temperatures are hampering some emergency services.

Firefighters in Colesville and seven other departments battled ice and frozen water lines in addition to the flames that destroyed a home on Moot Town Road January 22.  The blaze was reported at around 2:45 p.m. in the Town of Colesville.

The family was home at the time but got out safely.  There were no reports of serious injury.

Crews from Colesville, West Colesville, Chenango Forks, Chenango, Sanitaria Springs, Port Crane, Oquaga and Harpursville were called out for the two-alarm fire.

The house is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
