Fire investigators say an over-loaded power strip apparently caused the early morning blaze August 24 at a Windsor mobile home that claimed the life of a 53 year old woman.

Frances White was unable to escape after the fire broke out shortly after 3:30.  Another resident, 71 Pearly Clapper, got out and he was taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Officials say there didn’t appear to be any smoke detectors in the home at the Pleasant Valley Trailer Park on Old Route 17.

Firefighters say the mobile home was fully engulfed when they got on the scene and they were unable to attempt a rescue or attack the fire from inside the structure.

An autopsy has revealed White died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
