As predicted by many weather services bitterly cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills have hit our area.  Although only an inch or two of snow has fallen in most areas around Greater Binghamton winds gusting as high as 33 miles per hour and wind chills making it feel as cold as minus 26 make it extremely dangerous to be outdoors for any length of time.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill WARNING until 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14.  A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values.  This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.

Treated and plowed roadways can become snow-covered again quickly and make for hazardous driving conditions.  Even more brutally cold air is expected with overnight lows predicted to fall to minus 8 and winds gusting to 29 miles per hour.
