Authorities says 50-year-old Darl Ellis Sr., 26-year-old Darl Ellis Jr. and 24-year-old Christopher Ellis have been indicted on a range of charges including grand larceny and scheme to defraud. The men also face counts of criminal mischief and menacing.

While doing business as Ellis Contracting, the men allegedly obtained more than $120,000 from homeowners for services which were never provided.

The father was arrested on a grand larceny charge in March after he had been accused of stealing over $9,000 from a customer.

At the time, officials said Ellis Contracting was being investigated for other similar cases.

District Attorney Stephen Cornwell said after people were asked to report problems with the business, more than 50 complaints dating back ten years were received.

Cornwell said most of those who were allegedly defrauded were elderly. He said schemes to defraud hard-working, older residents are "inexcusable."

Cornwell said those involved in such activity "should never do business in Broome County again."
