Binghamton Restaurant Week is being praised as a big success for local restaurants, diners and the charities benefitting from some of the proceeds.

Thousands of diners have enjoyed lunch and dinner specials at a number of Binghamton area restaurants over the past ten days.  WNBF's Sean Holbert and I visited Czech Pleeze at 223 Robinson Street to enjoy some of their delicious homemade food yesterday as part of the Binghamton Restaurant Week celebration.

Anyone who knows me knows I love ethnic food.  A really fun part of my job is visiting and broadcasting live from many of the Ethnic and Church Festivals our area offers each summer and fall.  Not only do you get to meet a lot of wonderful people but the food is fantastic !  Yesterday, Sean and I got to enjoy that kind of wonderful food.

Dan, the owner of Czech Pleeze, was there to greet us, tell us a little about his business and let us try some of that great tasting homemade food.  We tried several of the Czech Pleeze specialties available for Restaurant Week and throughout the year.  Two of my favorites were their pirohi and spicy mac n' cheese.  The pirohi was delicious, fresh and covered with onions and butter.  Outstanding !  I've never tasted mac and cheese like theirs.  It's a little spicy with a unique taste.  Believe me...you will want more.  It is really that good.

We finished our lunch with some sweet treats including kolachki and zahzvorniki...a light, ginger-flavored cookie.  It was a delightful way to finish a very enjoyable lunch and a great way to enjoy Czech Pleeze, celebrating Binghamton Restaurant Week.
