An employee of a Cortlandville restaurant is accused of threatening a patron with a butcher knife.

Cortland County Sheriff's officials were called to the Ponderosa Steakhouse at around 6:30 p.m. March 28th by employees.

Shortly after deputies arrived, 51 year old Virgil Brown of Cortland surrendered the butcher knife and was taken into custody.

Brown is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, misdemeanor menacing and a violation count of harassment.

Deputies say Brown and the customer apparently exchanged words before Brown got the knife from the kitchen.

There were no injuries.
