Registration is being accepted for a seminar dealing with credit card changes that will take place August 14 in Owego.

The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the breakfast edition of Bite-Sized Pursuits at the Parkview Restaurant from 7:30 to 9 a.m. to address upcoming changes to credit card merchant services and shifts in liability.

U.S. banks are adding a computer chip to several new credit cards to combat counterfeit and fraud problems.

As of this coming October, businesses that don’t have devices to read the new cards could have to bear the cost of any fraudulent transactions.

The cost of the breakfast seminar is $7 for members and $10 for non-members.  The deadline to register is August 12.  Call the Chamber at (607) 687-2020 for information.
