Downtown Binghamton traffic patterns won't be back to normal for several weeks until the Court Street Gateway project is completed.

The roundabout opened August 24 but there's still plenty of work to be done in the rest of the project area.

Traffic pattern changes can lead to confusion for drivers and pedestrians.

Detours often are set up with little or no advance notice and they sometimes can change from one hour to the next depending on the needs of work crews.

Motorists are advised to use extreme caution when traveling through the construction zone.

The project should be completed sometime in November.

Although detours and other traffic pattern adjustments are part of the current weekday routine, downtown businesses along Court Street remain open.
