Couple from Greene Accused of Failing to Provide for Animals

Chenango County Sheriff’s officials say a couple is facing seven counts of failure to provide proper sustenance to farm animals and dogs.

62 year old Martin Canny and 63 year old Mary Canny of the Town of Greene were arrested following a complaint filed March 7.

Authorities say a veterinarian from Leather Stocking Veterinary Clinic in New Berlin recommended the removal of the animals and one dog that was in especially poor condition was taken by the Greene Dog Control Officer.

The Environmental Conservation Department also found an untagged deer carcass on the property.

The Leather Stocking Veterinary Clinic took the animals into their care.
