A little seasonal fun is planned that also has a more serious purpose.

A Halloween Pet Parade is being hosted by the Johnson City Elks Lodge on Watson Boulevard October 18 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The five dollar registration fee for pets will go toward the purchase of a bulletproof vest for a local police dog.

Officials say the event will feature raffles, food and prizes.

Pet owners can enter their critters in such categories as spookiest, prettiest, scariest or funkiest.

To register, call (607) 798-0358.

People who don’t have pets are invited to come to watch, enter the raffles and eat for free.
